Theory Without Fear – now available on Kindle

My latest Kindle book is Theory Without Fear, which is designed to be a gentle introduction to theory for students and teachers of A Level Media Studies (particularly at A2). Each chapter has a linked presentation on Google Docs, which can be used to support lessons or revision.

I’m aware that many of my presentations lack notes/commentary, and this book is part of a master plan in which both work together.

Includes chapters on:

  • Liberal Humanism
  • Marx and Hegemony
  • Freud and his successors
  • Modernism
  • Structuralism and Post-Structuralism
  • Postmodernism
  • Feminism
  • Globalisation
  • Genre (including The Uncanny) and Narrative
  • Reception Theory
  • Putting theories together

In addition to Media Studies, the book should also be useful for other subjects which deal with theory, such as A Level Sociology and English.

The book can be read on a Kindle, or in the Kindle app, which is available for Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, etc. (is there an etc.? Yes.).
