A massive spike in traffic to this blog yesterday gave me cause for alarm. Lots of people looking for “MEST 3” exam prep and revision – the day before the exam? Hopeless. As I frequently remind my students, short-term memory empties when you panic, which is why work done weeks ago will be of more use to you in the exam than stuff you tried to cram in last night.
The zen approach to study is to stop revising about a week before your exams. Give your brain a chance to cool down and approach the exam with a sense of calm.
When you’re at university, the person running the course will also be the person who sets and marks the exam – which is why the greatest study tip of all is, “Turn up to class.”
